Bajaj RE60 - the quadricycle that stunned almost everyone at its unveiling around three years ago - has been spotted testing on the roads of Ahmedabad, Gujarat by auto-enthusiast Aditya Wadhwa. The low-speed four wheeler has been in news ever since its debut as it was expected to be launched by the end of 2014, but it didn't happen due to some legal reasons. However, it is is expected that it would be launched by the second half of 2015 - fingers crossed, through!

Bajaj RE60 can carry four individuals comfortably and even the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway has given a green flag for its launch. But, the launch couldn't take place because of the PILs (Public Interest Litigations) filed by the rival companies in the high courts of several states such as Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Gujarat. However, most of these have been taken back by these foes as now they also are working on launching a similar product. Bajaj RE60 would be the only vehicle in its segment for quite some time as the fellow companies wouldn't be able to launch their product at the same time. Prominent automajors like TVS Motors, Polaris-Eicher, Mahindra, Tata Motors, and Piaggio are working hard to rollout a quadricycle on the lines of Bajaj RE60.

Earlier, it was said that Bajaj could export the RE60 quadricycle to foreign markets before the India launch. But, the company has dismissed such rumours and stated that it would be exported only after its launch in India. The company is relying heavily on Union Law Ministry to step in to their rescue and abolish all the PILs. Being developed on an investment of Rs. 550 Crores, the company would produce around 5000 units of this quadricycle on monthly basis at its Aurangabad production facility. It comes with a 216cc DTS-i liquid cooled fuel injected petrol engine which churns out a maximum power of 20bhp, while returning a promising mileage of 35km/l. The engine is linked to a 5-speed manual transmission with a top speed of 70km/hr. Inside the cabin, it boasts a digital fare meter and central speedometer.
