One Direction 'boss' Niall Horan has garnered appreciation and support from his band-mates after he surprised fans with a single, 'This Town' on his Twitter account.

The English-Irish boy band is currently on a break but that did not keep One Direction bandmates, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne from tweeting their support for their band-mate and friend, reports the Daily Mail.

"Good luck boss give him all your support huge day for him proud of you boss,' 23-year-old Payne wrote, while a little older Louis, 24 added, "Feeling super proud. You sound great! Great to see you at your bday bash!!"

The Irish songwriter recently released his debut solo single, 'This Town,' several months after One Direction officially began their hiatus beginning March.

The 'Story of My Life' writer surprised his fans by unveiling the 'This Town' track on his Twitter account and making it available to listen to on all major streaming platforms like iTunes, Apple Music and music video hosting website VEVO.

"Been workin in the studio, wanted to share this song I just wrote with u guys. thank you for always being there (sic)," he tweeted.

"I'm excited to announce I have signed a record deal with Capitol Records USA and released my first solo song.

'Thank you to all the One Direction fans for your love and support as always. I'm looking forward to the next part of this journey together.
