47 Pakistani pilgrims injured in Mecca crane accident

47 Pakistanis were injured in the crane accident at Mecca's Grand Mosque which also left 107 pilgrims dead, on Friday.

The Dawn quoted Qazi Khalilullah, the Foreign Office (FO) spokesman of Pakistan, saying that out of the 47 injured, 22 Pakistanis were admitted in three hospitals near Mecca but only 16 remained in the medical facilities as six were discharged after necessary medical treatment.

The spokesman said there was no news so far of any Pakistani having died in the accident, while none of the injured was in critical condition either.

The Pakistani embassy in Saudi Arabia has opened help-line numbers for Pakistanis wishing to know about their loved ones' condition or any other information regarding the incident. The numbers are: 00966580734001 or 00966504517632, reported Dawn.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs of India, two Indians were killed and 15 others were injured in the accident. These include 11 from the Haj Committee of India and 4 from Private Tour Operators.
