The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday demanded a probe of the alleged cop brutality in the Nand Nagri area of the national capital, and said the brute cops must be arrested.

"I felt that the Delhi Police Commissioner would promptly take-up the matter, and action would be initiated against the accused policemen. But, it is regrettable that the police has not taken any action against the accused, rather they are saving them," AAP leader Ashutosh told media here.

"There are desperate attempts by a section of media to suppress the matter, it is wrong," he added.

Sources reported that a 35-year-old man, identified as Shanu Shahnawaz Chaudhary, tried to intervene in a road-side scuffle between a couple and the police in northeast Delhi's Nand Nagri area and died in mysterious circumstances.

A video clip shows a policeman thrashing the man with his club, and raises questions about police claims that they were not involved in any scuffle with him.
