AAP puts Delhi Police in dock, proposes inquiry commission

Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday said his government will constitute an inquiry commission to study the city police's response to crimes against women.

He said that his party will convene a special session of the Delhi Assembly to introduce such a proposal.

"There are many incidents in Delhi in which women are teased, women are ill-treated and when they complain there is no action taken. The Parliamentary standing committee on Home Affairs has also criticised Delhi Police in their 185th report of being insensitive towards women," Sisodia told media persons here.

"The Delhi Government has decided to call a special session in the Vidhan Sabha, in which we will propose to constitute an inquiry commission to investigate actions taken on such complaints," he added.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi Government has locked horns with the Delhi Police over the law and order situation in the city.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi met at Delhi Secretariat yesterday to discuss the matter after a 19-year-old girl was brutally stabbed to death allegedly by two brothers living in her neighbourhood for protesting against their verbal abuse on July 16.
