Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Alka Lamba has revealed that the man who stared and winked at her on Thursday near the Town Hall had said that he was mentally challenged.
Lamba was inspecting the heritage mansion of renowned poet Mirza Ghalib in her assembly constituency of Chandni Chowk in the national capital when the incident occurred.
"When I was near the town hall he gave me an inappropriate stare and winked at me. He then approached me, after which I grabbed his collar and slapped him. Following this he started running, and then people around me chased him down and caught him. He then said that something had gone into his eyes, that he is being possessed by evil spirits and also that he is undergoing a treatment for mental problem," Lamba told ANI.
"We handed him over to the police, and told SHO that if this person is actually suffering from a mental illness then I would like to help him. But till the time filed a written complaint in the night, his family members were not able to produce any document supporting his claims of a mental problem," she added.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police has reportedly stated that a complaint in the matter has been registered and the inquiry is underway.
