Even as there is no sign of the impasse between government and the opposition on the issue of demonetisation being resolved, parliament will meet on Wednesday after a four-day break.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has reiterated that the government is ready for debate on the issue asking the Congress to rise above slogans and see advantage of the decision.
However, the Congress does not seem to be in a mood to tone down its demand for a discussion on the issue under the rule entailing voting in the Lok Sabha and is persistent on its demand of the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the debate in Rajya Sabha.
Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge has said the party would take up the issue of the vigilance report accusing Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju of influencing payments for a hydro project contract in Arunachal Pradesh.
"Today, we will have a party meeting. We have two to three important issues to raise in Parliament like demonetisation, India' foreign policy towards Pakistan and, of course, the issue involving Rijiju. We will discuss all these issues in the party meeting and accordingly raise our issues in parliament," Kharge told ANI.
Meanwhile, the BJP and the Congress have issued whips to their MPs in both the Houses, asking them to be present in parliament for the next three days.
