The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa on Monday reiterated effective utilisation of available resources for operational readiness at all times.
In his opening address at the inauguration event of the Maintenance Command Commanders' Conference at Vayu Sena Nagar, Nagpur, the Air Chief said that the Maintenance Command has a major role in maintaining the warfighting equipment of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and urged them to keep pace with the rapid upgradation of modern technologies being incorporated into the defence system.
Congratulating the field commanders for excellent performance and quality output is given by all the Base Repair Depots (BRDs) and Equipment Depots (EDs) during Exercise Gagan Shakti, Air Chief Marshal Dhanoa appreciated the effort of the depots for boosting the serviceability of aircraft, radars and SAGW during the exercise.
The Air Chief Marshal also presented trophies to Base Repair Depots and Equipment Depots that had excelled in their core professional work.
The two-day conference was attended by the Commanders of Base Repair Depots, Equipment Depots and other units/stations under Maintenance Command.
The progress of various on-going maintenance activities and projects at various units was reviewed during the conference.
Defence Public Relation Officer, Group Captain Basantkumar B Pande informed that the headquarters Maintenance Command has also taken initiative towards renewable energy wherein all major building rooftops are being installed with solar cells. Similar projects are also underway in five other major stations under Maintenance Command.
The Chief of Air Staff inaugurated the Solar Power Plant installed on the rooftop of the Maintenance Command headquarters building that is the first green building in the Maintenance Command and would ensure that the complete energy requirement of the building would be met from the Solar Energy during the conference and thereafter.
After the inauguration of the solar power plant, Air Chief Marshal Dhanoa interacted with all personnel included all Air warriors, civilian Staff, DSC personnel and NCs(E) of HQ MC, IAF.
Earlier in the day, Air Force Wives Welfare Association President Kamalpreet Dhanoa addressed a meeting of Sanginis along with Kusum Sharma, President AFWWA (Regional) and AFWWA Presidents of various units under Maintenance Command.
