England was rescued from a first-day Ashes disaster thanks to the 'magic balls' of James Anderson as Alistair Cook's side hit back in dramatic fashion in Trent Bridge on Wednesday.

According to the Mirror, in a match fraught with nerves and tension, Anderson set the tone by taking two scalps, including of Australian captain Michael Clarke, along with Steven Finn, as Australia ended the day 75-4.

Stating that England managed to save the day after Anderson bowled 'absolutely magic balls', which he had also done in few times before in the past, Finn said that with Anderson in the team, a swinging ball is an advantage.

Praising Anderson, Finn further said that the bowler's performance is a testament to the amount of work that he does and the time he spends to develop such skills, adding that they were confident of getting rewarded if they got the ball moving, attacked off stump and brought the batsmen forward.

However, Finn further said that even though it is important to set the tone and try to take early wickets, a bowler should not chase the wickets as then the game may get away from him quickly.
