England ace Ashley Cole has reportedly been forced to tell fans that he is 'strictly chicks only' as top football stars were being name-checked worldwide as 'possibles'.

Cole's denial came after Twitter was flooded with messages revealing that one of the Premier League players' would openly admit about his homosexuality in an upcoming interview.

According to the Daily Star, the tweets claimed that one of the Three Lions player is to come out as gay with one Twitter user questioning Cole in his tweet that said it had 'to be Ashley Cole who's gay', as who would 'cheat on Cheryl Cole?'

However, Cole rebuffed the rumours in a cheeky message saying that he is 'sorry to disappoint' people but he is 'strictly chicks only', the report added.

Cole's teammate Luke Shaw also dismissed the rumours that he was the gay player in question with his tweet that said 'it is not me chill out guys!' but later deleted the post, the report added.

Gay former Norwich striker Justin Fashanu took his own life in 1998 after suffering years of homophobic abuse and since then no footballer has openly admitted to being gay while playing in the Premier League, the report added.

However, a tweet has backed the Three Lions star who would openly accept about being homosexual in an interview, saying that the first openly gay footballer to play for England is respected for his decision, the report added.
