Australia gears up to welcome PM Modi for G20 Summit

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to leave for Australia tonight to attend the G-20 Summit, preparations in Sydney are in full swing especially for his address to the Indian community at the Allphones Arena.

"The enthusiasm level is there in the whole of Australia, it will be a privilege to see him," Rashi Kapoor, the host of PM Modi's Allphones Arena show, told ANI.

The Indian community in Australia expressed their excitement over the event.

"We are very excited, specially the Indian community in Australia, this is the biggest welcome for any political leader from India. We are earning lot of respect because of him in Australia, we support and welcome him," said Rupesh Singh, CEO of Education Center of Australia.

Talking about the Allphones Arena event, he added, "This event was oversold, as the capacity of event is 15000 people, but 27000 have subscribed to it. So, I think, this will be a very good relationship between Australia and India, and will give big boost to India n businessmen and community."

He also said this is the first time Australia can see true leadership and basically a person who understands business.

Indian students studying in Australia are also looking forward to Prime Minister Modi's visit.

"There are a lot of expectations from Prime Minister Modi. We want India-Australia relations to improve so that young graduates can have the opportunity to grow and do business," said a student.

"He has been to Nepal recently, and, I was so impressed after listening to him, and I would definitely like to hear from him. So, I am really excited, as he is coming to Australia. We students do have expectations from him.So, looking forward," added another Australian student.

Other Indians living in Australia also said they expect Prime Minister Modi to show them the the way on how they can contribute to India, and added that they want an assurance from him to remove the image of corruption in Indian business.

Meanwhile, Indian Australian Community Foundation organiser Balesh Dhankar said, "There will be many events outside the Allphones Arena also. This is the first time such a big event is being organised for an Indian leader in Australia. The reason behind it is that he is such a leader who connects to people. For example, the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan is in every house. He is not only the Prime Minister, but also a hope."

Prime Minister Modi is currently in Myanmar as part of his 10-day trip to three nations, the other two being Australia and Fiji.

Earlier today, he met is Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev on the sidelines of the ongoing East Asia Summit 2014 in Myanmar's capital Naypyidaw, and had yesterday, interacted with the leaders of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries.

Prime Minister Modi will also participate in the G-20 Summit in Brisbane.

To re-live and celebrate the humble beginnings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, over 200 fans will also be travelling by a special train from Melbourne to attend a diaspora event in Sydney on November 17.

The organizers have already billed the event in Sydney a success. Over 21,000 people have already registered for a mere 16,000 seats. The organizers of the event will be allocating a number of the said seats by lottery, with a further 20,000 expected registries.

During his visit to Australia, Prime Minister Modi will first travel to Brisbane on November 15 to participate in the two-day G 20 Summit. On November 17, the Prime Minister will travel to Sydney, where he will attend a community reception and address the Indian Diaspora.

Prime Minister Modi will then travel to Canberra and address the special joint sitting of the Australian Parliament on November 18.
