Former Manchester United and England soccer sensation David Beckham has reportedly been nominated to join the prestigious ranks of the knights of the realm.
Reports said that Beckham could add the coveted honorific 'Sir', to his name as early as New Year's Eve, or during the annual ceremony affirming new knights at Buckingham Palace, which would then add the title of Lady' before his wife and former Spice Girl Victoria's name.
According to Fox News, however, there are still reportedly a few hoops between Beckham and the order of chivalry, including a complete and final vetting of his vast fortune, which was estimated at around 165 million pounds.
According to a source, His Majesty's Revenue and Customs specifically look at the higher honors, especially high earners like sports persons, to see if there is something that they want to double check.
