South Africa middle-order batsman JP Duminy, who is proud of what the team has achieved in 2016, has insisted that their best is yet to come.
"There were many ups and downs...much to reflect on and to be thankful for. I'm proud of what we have achieved this year as a team. And I believe the best is yet to come," he said.
The Proteas has been magnificent this year, especially in the last three months where they first whitewashed Australia 5-0 in the ODIs at home and then a 2-1 Test series win Down Under.
Before that they won the home Test series against New Zealand and at the starting, had also won the five-match ODI series against England.
Speaking in an interview, Duminy spoke the highs, the lows and the achievements of the team in 2016.
"I would definitely have to say this was our 5-0 one-day international (ODI) whitewash against Australia. We go into every series with the ambition to win, and, generally, when you achieve that early in a series, you tend to back off," the left-hander was quoted as saying by Sport24 when asked about the highlight of 2016.
"But the hunger and the determination within the team to 'strive for more' were remarkable and were a great inspiration to me, personally."
The 32-year-old further asserted that for him---being being left out of the New Year's Test at the beginning of the year---was one of the low moments.
"A New Year's Test is certainly one of our iconic events on the Test calendar and something one always wants to be part of," he said.
"Being given the No. 4 spot in the Test team against New Zealand. One always feels that batting at No. 4 has quite a bit of responsibility and significance and it's an honour to be given that responsibility," Duminy said when asked about the significant moment of 2016.
