The Bharatiya Janata Party and the People's Democratic Party on Tuesday stated Jammu and Kashmir would soon have a government under their alliance, adding that their union was formulated keeping peace of the state in mind.
"After the elections in Jammu and Kashmir, discussions were on between both parties on various topics. After many such dialogues, there has been an agreement on a common minimum programme. In a few days, Jammu and Kashmir will see the PDP-BJP alliance taking oath as the government," BJP chief Amit Shah told the media.
"[Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister] Mufti Mohammad Sayeed sahib and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have a meeting in a few days and after that, a formal announcement regarding the date of the government formation in the state shall be declared," he added.
Meanwhile, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said that an agenda for the alliance between the PDP and BJP is taking place between both parties.
"Many issues were discussed between the two parties and fortunately we have reached an understanding. An agenda for alliance is taking shape. When Mufti sahib and Prime Minister Modi meet, the points of the common minimum programme shall be released," she said.
"Keeping priorities and peace in Jammu and Kashmir in mind, as well as the growth of the nation, we have formulated the BJP-PDP alliance," she added.
The J-K elections threw up a hung verdict, with the PDP emerging as the single-largest party in with 28 seats. The BJP won 25 seats, with the National Conference and Congress winning 15 and 12 seats respectively.
