Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday expressed concern over reports of atrocities committed against minority Hindu community in Bangladesh, post the recent elections.
Addressing a press conference here, BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said although it is Bangladesh's internal matter, her party is worried over the violence against Hindus.
"We certainly are voicing our concern about the minority community, which is being targeted for attack. They are the targets of attack, and therefore, we voice our concern, fully appreciating again, that it is a completely internal matter of Bangladesh. However, attacks are worrying and we would like to record our concern," said Sitharaman.
Homes were torched in Hindu villages in Jessore district of Bangladesh on Sunday evening as the country went to polls in a disputed election.
