Both UPA and NDA have helped Vijay Mallya: Mayawati

She said UPA govt did not stop banks from giving heavy loan to Mallya and now NDA has helped him to exit from the nation

Bahujan Samaj Party Chief Mayawati on Friday accused both the previous UPA government and the incumbent NDA dispensation for helping and aiding liquor baron Vijay Mallya in his malicious endeavours.

Reacting to Vijay Mallya's tweet clarifying his absence from the nation, Mayawati said that the then UPA government did not stop banks from giving such a heavy loan to Mallya and now the NDA has helped him to exit from the nation.

"Vijay Mallya is saying all this to camouflage his misdeeds. I don't know why a loan of such heavy amount was passed under the tenure of the UPA government. It seems like a conspiracy of the two entities. The NDA now has helped him to escape from the nation," said Mayawati.

Rubbishing claims that he had absconded from the country, Mallya had earlier in the day clarified that he is an international businessman who travels from India frequently, and said that he is not an absconder.

"I am an international businessman. I travel to and from India frequently. I did not flee from India and neither am I an absconder. Rubbish. As an Indian MP I fully respect and will comply with the law of the land. Our judicial system is sound and respected. But no trial by media," Mallya said on twitter.

"News reports that I must declare my assets. Does that mean that Banks did not know my assets or look at my Parliamentary disclosures?" he asked.

Mallya further said that 'once a media witch hunt starts, it escalates into a raging fire where truth and facts are burnt to ashes'.
