American football legend Joe Montana has said that London is on the verge of getting an NFL franchise because of the amazing British support for the game, with a great tradition in Wembley.
According to the Daily Star, Montana, one of the best quarterbacks in history, was watching his San Francisco 49ers take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley on Sunday.
He said that Wembley had a great tradition, but it had that tradition because of the people who go there to watch games, adding that it was great that they were having regular season games in London.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell also said that he does not rule out a franchise in the UK, based on the fans' support and interest, adding that at some point it will become obvious that a team could be successful here.
