Broad hoping to 'get some stick' from Oz fans as proof of better performance in Ashes

England bowler Stuart Broad is reportedly hoping to 'get some stick' from the Australian fans during the winter Ashes series as he believes that it would will be proof that he is performing well in the games.

Broad took three early wickets and ended day one of his side's final warm-up game against an Invitational XI in Sydney with 3-36 from his 20 overs.

According to the Mirror, although Broad has been branded Australia's public enemy No.1 by national coach Darren Lehmann, he said that he has enjoyed nothing but warmth since arriving in Australia, although he added that he hoped that the reception changes to a more hostile one during the Tests as it would mean that he is performing well.

Broad further said that he has got this theory after reading former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson's book, where the Scot claimed that it is a good sign for a player if the opposition fans are singing about him, adding he believes that both sets of fans will be having a field day at the Gabba.

Stating that he expecting more sledging when the stadiums become fuller during the main matches, Broad also said that the Australian public will feel that their side is a bit more settled and coming for England, adding that the series will be extremely entertaining for them.
