Candy Crush creator, King, has reportedly announced that it has no right on the word 'candy' after filing to protect the word in both the US and EU over trademark claims.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office originally approved King's claim in mid-January, but now the Swedish firm has filed for trademark abandonment in the US, which means it no longer could claim any rights to the trademark.

According to Mashable, the firm's spokesperson confirmed that it had withdrawn its trademark application for Candy in the US, adding that having the rights to Candy Crusher was the best option for protecting Candy Crush in the US market.

The spokesperson further said that it would not affect their EU trademark for Candy and they would continue to take all appropriate steps to protect their intellectual property.

Earlier the company's trademark word was 'constantly infringed' due to the popularity and success of the highly addictive game 'Candy Crush'.
