Celebrities inundated Bollywood star Aamir Khan social media with birthday wishes as the actor turned 54 on Tuesday.

From Madhuri Dixit and Sachin Tendulkar, who wished the actor on his special day in the funniest way possible, to his 'Rang De Basanti' director Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra and 'Thugs of Hindostan' co-star Katrina Kaif, many celebrities extended their warm wishes for Bollywood's 'Mr Perfectionist.'

Whishing the actor in Bollywood style by using one on Aamir's iconic songs from film 'Ghulam,' master blaster Sachin Tendulkar wrote, "Wishing my dear friend, Aamir Khan, a very happy birthday! "A", kya bolta tu?

Replying to the cricketer's tweet in an equally funny manner, Aamir wrote, "Thanks Sachin! Aata kya khandala ? Love. a.

Jokingly accused him of playing a prank on her while shooting for 'Dil,' B-town's 'Dhak Dhak' took to her Twitter handle and wrote. "I still remember you pulling a prank on me while shooting for #Dil. Remembering those fun moments and many more on your birthday dearest Aamir Khan! Wishing you a fantastic day ahead. Stay blessed!"

Keeping his wishes for the actor short, simple but affectionate, filmmaker Om Prakash Mehra, posting a picture from the sets of 'Rang De Basanti' where the two can be seen sitting together and tweeted, "Mere Pyare Aamir Khan ko janamdin Mubarak. (Happy birthday to my dear Aamir Khan)"

"Happiest bday Aamir Khan sir wish you loads of love and happiness always!" wrote Siddharth Malhotra.

Internationally acclaimed Indian wrestler Geeta Phogat, on whom Aamir's film Dangal was based, also took to her twitter handle to extend her wishes. Happy Birthday Aamir Khan Sir, You are a greatest and sweetest human being. May God bless you with wonderful times ahead. I wish peace, happiness, great life," she wrote adding a photo where she can be seen posing with the actor.

"Happy Birthday Dear Aamir Khan Ji," wrote actor turned politician Kamal Hassan.

Aamir celebrated his birthday with a customary cake-cutting ceremony with the media persons in Mumbai on Thursday. Kiran Rao was also present at the press conference held by the actor.

Later during a small interactive session, the actor treated his fans with the announcement of his next film titled 'Laal Singh Chadda' which will be an adaptation of the Hollywood classic 'Forrest Gump'.

The actor also decided to send a special message for his fans in which he urged them to cast their vote in the upcoming elections. Amir spoke about the importance of Voting in a democracy.

"Since it's the election year, I wish the people of India. The biggest democracy should go and vote. They should go and vote. They should all vote and make the elections a success," the actor said.

Speaking about one of the major issues that arise during the elections, Aamir requested election commission to make provision for people working and staying abroad to vote.
