Centurion Test: Proteas extend lead to 372 against Kiwis after 13-wicket day

Quinton de Kock smashed a half-century as South Africa pushed their lead to 372 runs after the day three of the second Test saw a total of 13 wickets tumbling here at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Monday.

As the wickets kept falling on the other hand, De Kock came out guns blazing at the top of the batting order for South Africa and went on to share a 35-run partnership with Temba Bavuma (unbeaten at 35) before the left-hander got dismissed on the delivery from Doug Bracewell.

De Kock's innings also saw him hit Trent Boult's first over for four boundaries, Sport24 reported.

None of the other South African batsmen were able to reach double figures as the hosts ended their day on 105-6.

Boult dismissed Stephen Cook (4) with a peach of a delivery while Tim Southee trapped Hashim Amla and JP Duminy for one and duck, respectively.

Earlier, resuming at yesterday's score of 38-3, New Zealand were bundled out for 214 runs in their first innings despite some brilliant fight back from skipper Kane Williamson (77).

South Africa's Dale Steyn (3 for 66) and Kagiso Rabada (3 for 62) were the main wicket takers for the hosts.

Meanwhile, Vernon Philander and Dane Piedt also shared three wickets between themselves.

The opening Test of the two-match series between the two sides ended in a draw after wet outfields spoiled the fifth day's play in Durban.
