Chelsea' four-match winless streak came to an end with a 2-0 Premier League victory over west London rivals Fulham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Chelsea's Brazilian international Oscar opened the scoring early in the second half of the game to take his second goal of the week, and then the club sealed their victory with a second goal by Nigerian John Mikel Obi, which was his first Premier League goal in his 185th appearance.
According to Sport24, the three points, which Chelsea gained with the win, took them to the top of the table after a testing period in which they lost to Bayern Munich in the European Super Cup final and were beaten by Everton and Basel.
The report mentioned that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho had taken a big risk with his team selection by not selecting Juan Mata and David Luiz for the game.
Both sides are in action in the League Cup third round on Tuesday, with Chelsea visiting third-tier Swindon Town and Fulham hosting top-flight rivals Everton, the report added.
