An eight-month-old baby boy was stabbed 90 times in the face by his own mum after he accidentally bit her during breastfeeding.
Xiao Bao needed more than 100 stitches after his mother attacked him with scissors at their home in Xuzhou, eastern China, the New York Daily News reported.
The tiny infant was rushed to hospital by his uncle, who found him lying in a pool of his own blood, in the yard.
The doctors believe that the baby will survive the ordeal.
The mother is currently undergoing psychiatric evaluation to determine whether she is mentally ill.
According to the International Business Times, neighbours have reportedly pleaded with local government officials to take the child away, but staff say that they are yet to make a decision.
