The safety of the passengers is being doubted with the recurring incidences of fire in the state-of-the-art Boeing aircrafts.
A Boeing 787 Dreamliner operated by Ethiopian Airlines had caught fire at Heathrow airport on Friday and another 787 carrying British holidaymakers to Florida returned home after a technical fault.
Earlier, two battery fires on All Nippon Airways (ANA) in January this year had led US safety authorities recommend the grounding of the entire worldwide fleet.
Meanwhile, Ethiopian Airlines had restarted operations in May, after Boeing had worked for four months to resolve the problems.
The Guardian reports that the recent fire immediately raised concerns about the problems with the lithium batteries not being resolved till now.
According to the report, Boeing shares had plunged 7 percent after the news broke.
Boeing is depending on 787 planes for its success for the next 20 years, with over 900 already ordered by different airlines for fuel efficiency.
