Australian captain Michael Clarke has said that he will not step down from his post even if his side suffers a second successive 4-0 series loss in the final Ashes Test.

According to Metro.co.uk, Australia go into the Ashes Test at The Oval on Wednesday (today) 3-0 down and are one defeat away from a repeat of the hammering that they endured in India this spring.

Stating that he will not resign the Australian captaincy, Clarke said that he feels that he can help the team have success, which is a big part of his role as a senior player, whether he captains or not, although he added that it is a tough challenge as a captain when he does not get his desired results.

According to the report, Clarke unusually named the team on the eve of the match, confirming Mitchell Starc as the replacement of fellow seamer Jackson Bird, with all-rounder James Faulkner to make his Test debut in place of Usman Khawaja, which would see Shane Watson move back up the order from six.
