The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday hailed decision of special court, which gave clean chit to Amit Shah, in fake encounter case.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), stated that Shah could not be named an accused in fake encounter of Ishrat Jahan as there was no sufficient evidence available against him.

In 2009, a metropolitan judge in Ahmedabad ruled that Jahan's shootout was 'fake', pricking holes in the sequence of events provided by the state police and renewing demands for a fresh probe into the incident.

According to media reports, the CBI does have not have sufficient proof to indict Shah, a key aide of Gujarat chief minister and BJP prime ministerial candidate, Modi.

"Verdict of the CBI (central bureau of investigation) court on Amit Shah is a true example of truth shall triumph. It would be regarded as a victory of truth," said BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi in New Delhi.

Ishrat Jahan was a student who was killed along with three men in Gujarat by policemen who claimed they had been told by the Intelligence Bureau that four were terrorists who planned to kill Modi.

Meanwhile, Naqvi also blamed ruling Congress party for booth capturing.

"The Congress party has indulged in systematic booth capturing in West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar polls. Where no violence is seen but happens, where the administration is a part of the capturing, the party strategically indulges in these activities," he said.
