The Congress Party on Monday punched holes in the tall promises made by the BJP during elections of ushering in good days after coming to power at the Centre.

Charging the BJP-led NDA Government of failing to live up to the people's expectations, Congress leader Shobha Oza on Monday said, "People of India gave a sweeping mandate to Modi government for securing good days, so that the government does not have any excuse in fulfilling their dreams. While coming to power they reiterated their election promise of controlling price-rise. But they started good days by hiking the prices of diesel by 50 paise, then prices of vegetables and pulses were increased. Even they didnot stop till that, as prime minister said that people will have to brace for bitter pills, and soon after the railway fares, including passenger and freight have been hiked."

She also predicted that sugar prices will be increased in the coming days, given that the government is going to increase import duty on sugar along with she attached the possibilty of an increase of LPG prices by the government.

"The sugar is soon going to become bitter as the import duty is going to be increased and it would become costlier by 6 to 8 rupees. There are indications that the government is also planning to increase prices of LPG. These are only pre-shocks before the budget is announced," she added at a press conference.

" The people are asking is this is what the government had promised about good days. People are now feeling cheated. A few days back Rajnath Singh had said that it will take six months to implement good days, as their promise of bringing in good days with their assuming charge now stands hollow. They are now asking if the good days will come only in 2019. People had little wondered that things will come to such a pass given that it has no compulsions from coalition politics," Oza further added.
