Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) staged a protest here for the second day against the rail fare hike and demanded fresh elections in Delhi.

Delhi Congress leader Mukesh Sharma criticised the Bharatiya junta Party (BJP) not only for rail fare hike but also for the lack of water and electricity supply to people.

"Congress party wants to stop Delhi Vidhan Sabha. There must be elections again so that the people can choose the right party again. We are ready for elections but BJP and Kejriwal are scared of elections. Delhi LG should immediately dismiss Vidhan Sabha but I feel that he is being pressurized by central government. BJP must stop trying to get power through back door," said Sharma.

Sharma also warned the government about stopping trains at any railway station if the decision is not changed.

"If the government does not withdraw this decision, Congress will stop all trains from Delhi. We can stop any train at any railway station on any day. The Modi wave is killing people. Congress always tried to reduce inflation but because of hoarders and black marketeers there is artificial inflation. Good days of RSS and BJP workers have come, but not of common man. We are proud of the work we have done in 15 years. This is why people are remembering Congress again," he added.

The protesters burnt Prime Minister Narendra Modi's effigy and marched on the streets with placards reading anti Modi and anti Kejriwal slogans.

Arvinder Singh Lovely also slammed Modi for making fake claims in their election manifesto.

"This government is trying to burden poor people. Inflation is increasing and the people are suffering from lack of water and electricity. Ever since this government came, people are suffering every day," said Lovely.

The government has increased rail passenger fares by 14.2 percent and freight rates by 6.5 percent, which has led to an outcry by the opposition parties.

The decision has resulted in various protest s across the country demanding the government take back its decision.
