The cop who led the investigation into the killing of Anni Dewani has denied bias against her husband, Shrien Dewani, who has been accused of orchestrating the murder of his wife during their honeymoon in Cape Town.

Captain Paul Hendrikse made the above statement in the Cape Town High Court on Tuesday when Dewani's counsel, Francois van Zyl, asked him whether his attitude towards his client and the investigation was fairly impartial, reported News 24.

Referring to a post on Facebook that said "Human Rights? Mental Health Act? Fair trial? Are these just escape routes?" Van Zyl suggested that the policeman was losing faith and that the sentiment could hurt victims of crime.

However, Hendrikse denied making the entry and said that it was the first time that he had seen the post. He added that he had deactivated his Facebook profile after a journalist informed him on Monday that his account had been hacked.

Van Zyl also alleged that two members of Anni's family, Nishma Hindocha and Sneha Mashru, were on his Facebook friend list and asked Hendrikse if it influenced his observations. The policeman replied in the negative.
