In a bizarre incident, cops took a parrot in custody for abusing an 85-year-old woman.
Janabai Sakharkar, the 85-year-old woman, accused her stepson, Suresh, of teaching his parrot, Hariyal, to insult her whenever she crossed his house, Irish Daily Star reported.
The cops summoned all the three parties, including the parrot, for questioning. However, the parrot refused to insult Sakharkar in front of the cops.
Officer P.S. Dongre said there was a dispute over land and property between the woman and her stepson, adding that they watched the parrot carefully but it did not utter a word at the police station.
Eventually, the cops handed-over the parrot to forest department officials.
