Criticism should be done in scientific manner: Santosh Hegde

Former Supreme Court judge Justice (Retd.) N. Santosh Hegde on Sunday said criticism should be done in a scientific manner and not by hurting the feelings of people.

"Whenever a person talks, he may be a person with a great vision and he may oppose certain customs and other things but don't bring it religiously. Criticizing is one thing, but you cannot hurt someone. It should be done in a scientific manner and not by hurting the feelings of people. And to speak ill about any religion is bad," Hegde told ANI.

"In this background, I think we are losing patience very fast and are also losing a great bit of humanism," he added.

Justice (Retd.) Hedge further said that the people have become very self-centered.

"One doesn't have the patience to hear the criticism against you and at the same time you use all the power you have to punish people like that who have the fundamental right to speak," he said while speaking on the arrest of Tamil folk singer Kovan.

Kovan, a 45-year-old folk singer from Trichy, was arrested on Friday after he criticized Jayalalithaa-led AIADMK Government and its liquor policy in a song.
