The Custom officials on Tuesday detained a passenger travelling to Hong Kong on a Jet Airways flight for allegedly carrying a bag containing USD 50000 thousand dollars.
The passenger who was about to board Jet Airways flight 0078 from Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), was intercepted after immigration.
On being interrogated the passenger could not provide evidence in support of lawful possession of the recovered foreign currency. The said currency was seized under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act.
A case has been booked against the said passenger under the Customs Act , 1962. The passenger was later arrested under the provisions of Section 104 of the Customs Act.
