De Gea reveals money will not decide Man U future as Real targets Spaniard

Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea has reportedly informed Manchester United that money would not motivate his decision over his future, as Real Madrid targets the star stopper, who has 18 months remaining on his contract at Old Trafford.

It had been reportedly revealed earlier that Real is planning a bid to take the United keeper back to Spain in a deal that would see Gareth Bale move to Old Trafford.

However, The Mirror has now reported that that United's plan to offer De Gea a bank-busting basic wage in excess of 2,00,000 pounds-a-week won't tempt the Spaniard into committing himself to a new long-term contract.

United's offer is reportedly far more than what Real is willing to pay, but De Gea has 18 months left on his current deal and has told friends that his heart would decide where his future lies.

Real has taken massive encouragement from this and they feel that they can prise De Gea away from United. Moreover, with time ticking down on the Spaniard's contract Real know that United's 50 million pounds valuation is unrealistic for a player who would be available for free in the summer of 2016.

As De Gea is on the verge of replacing Iker Casillas as Spain's number one, the European champions reportedly view it as a matter of national pride that they sign him.

De Gea is happy at Old Trafford but the lure of Real could prove too much, especially if United fail to qualify for the Champions League, the report added.
