A Delhi Court on Saturday cancelled the bailable warrant issued against former army chief General (Retd.) V.K. Singh in a defamation case.

"Bailable warrants were issued against General Singh. Since he is a law abiding citizen, he complied with those warrants and appeared in the court and those bailable warrants were taken back. They have been cancelled," said General Singh's lawyer Vishwajeet Singh.

"The day the warrant was issued. General Singh was unwell. We had furnished the medical report earlier to the court. That medical excuse has been accepted," he added.

A Delhi Court had earlier issued a bailable warrant against him when he failed to appear in one of the hearings.

General Singh has claimed that Lt Gen Tejinder Singh, who retired as chief of Defence Intelligence Agency in July 2010, made a bribe offer of Rs 14 crore to him when he was the army chief for the Tatra truck deal.

He has claimed that he was offered a Rs 14 crore bribe in September 2010 to clear the purchase of a tranche of 1,676 Tatra trucks for the Indian Army.
