Defending champion Adam Scott had to battle hard to keep Australia's teetering hopes alive at the 78th US Masters after he and compatriot John Senden fell back in the pack late in the third round at Augusta National.
The pair was well behind pacesetting American and 2012 Masters champion Bubba Watson, who was six-under par for the week through 13 holes and shared the lead with fellow American Jordan Spieth (14 holes).
According to News.com.au, Senden was two-over on his round through 13 holes to drop to two-under-par for the week while defending champion Scott was five-over through 14 to be two-over.
Senden, who started in the final group in second place, dropped four shots in the opening seven holes while Scott, the first Australian to win the green jacket, started in a tie for third and dropped as many shots in the first five holes to severely dent their hopes, the report added.
