Delhiites can relax as dengue cases declining rapidly, assures Satyendra Jain

Asserting that dengue is in full control in Delhi, Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Sunday urged the people not to panic.

When asked about the number of dengue deaths in Delhi so far, Jain drew the attention of the media to the swine flu cases in the BJP-ruled states.

"We are working day and night to counter dengue, how come no one is talking about that. If you want to go by sheer calculation I can tell you that 623 people have died from swine flu in Maharashtra. 22,000 people have died in total in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat. Just because the media does not highlight an issue does not mean nothing is happening," Jain told ANI here.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had earlier admitted that dengue is widespread in the city.

He, however, added that with timely medical intervention and some basic precautions, recovery is fast. Kejriwal also reassured the general public stating that the Health Department has added beds to the hospitals and that dengue detection test and medicines are available for free.
