The Dhaka High Court has given permission to a lower court to continue trial proceedings against a corrupt Awami League lawmaker.
A two-judge bench of the high court said that the case against Abdur Rahman Bodi, who represents the Awami League from the Cox's Bazar-4 constituency, has merit.
Bodi has been charged with amassing Taka 6.33 crore in illegal wealth, and also of concealing information about properties worth Taka 3.99 crore.
High Court judges Justice Mohammad Emdadul Huq and Justice Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar rejected a petition by the accused filed for scraping the case proceedings, the Daily Star reports.
The Special Judge's Court-3 of Dhaka is set to record witness statements on November 18.
Bodi is currently out on bail.
