India was on Monday re-elected to the UN Commission on International Trade Law for another six years term, maintaining its unbeaten track record of winning elections at the world body.
The election held in the U.N. General Assembly, means India enjoys a fresh term as UNCITRAL member from 2016 to 2022.
UNCITRAL is recognised as the core legal body of the United Nations system in the field of international trade law, the Indian Mission to the UN said in a statement.
A legal body with universal membership specialising in commercial law reform worldwide for over 40 years, UNCITRAL's business is modernisation and harmonisation of rules on international business.
The UNGA elected 23 members to UNICTRAL for six-year terms beginning June 27 next year, including Australia, Brazil, Chile, Israel, Iran, Italy, Pakistan, Philippines, Spain, Turkey, the US and Venezuela.
