Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has lamented a poor bowling performance after South African prodigy Quinton de Kock set up a 141-run victory for the hosts in the first one-day international at the Wanderers Stadium on Thursday, according to reports.

According to Sport24, De Kock, 12 days short of his 21st birthday, hit a thrilling 135 off 121 balls in a South African total of 358 for four after the hosts were sent in to bat.

The South African fast bowlers and some sharp fielding blew India's top order away, the report said.

Despite an innings of 65 by Dhoni they could only manage 217 in reply, giving South Africa a win by 141 runs and a 1-0 lead in the three-match series, the report added.

Dhoni said that he was disappointed with the way India bowled and more than the death bowling, he was disappointed with the new ball bowling, adding that it was not a 350 wicket.

He added that not having enough time to prepare for fast, bouncy South African could not be an excuse.
