Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Friday said that he will call on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, calling for a change in guidelines for the issue of Arms licences.
"The earlier guidelines issued have created lots of problems: our demand is that the guidelines issued in 2010 under the Arms Licence Act be withdrawn. The office of arms clerks have become a hotbed for corruption, so we demand that the guns licence be converted from a yearly renewal to a lifetime licence. Only two or three percent of murders take place from licensed guns, the rest are all unlicensed guns," Digvijay Singh said.
The Congress leader also stated that he would not raise the issue of the death of people associated with the Vyapam scam.
"There is no use of raising the Vyapam scam with Rajnath Singh because if the Prime Minister cannot do anything, how will the Home Minister?" he said.
