World number one Novak Djokovic displayed an imperious form as he brushed aside eighth-seeded Leonardo Mayer in straight sets to sail into the semifinals of the Qatar Open in Doha.
The Serbian survived a second set challenge and bounce back to claim a 6-3, 7-5 win over the Argentine in a thrilling quarterfinal clash, Sport24 reported.
Reflecting on his performance, Djokovic said he played well in the first set, adding that Mayer had shown brilliant efforts in the second set.
The 28-year-old will now face Tomas Berdych, who has also made it to the semifinals by sweeping aside Britain's Kyle Edmund 6-3, 6-2.
Earlier, second-seed Rafael Nadal had advanced to the semifinals after beating Andrey Kuznetsov of Russia 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 in the quarterfinals.
