Communications and IT Minister Kapil Sibal on Wednesday expressed his concern over the deteriorating system of school education under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and said that during his tenure as the HRD Minister, he had proposed to convert municipal schools into modern and purposeful primary schools with excellent infrastructure.

Kapil Sibal, who was present at the inauguration ceremony of two Government schools, along with Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and State Education Minister Prof. Kiran Walia, said that political parties should stop opposing development projects in the state like schools and hospitals.

Speaking on the subject of education, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said the Delhi Government has striven hard to bring about a change in school education and it is committed to ensure better future to school children. She also assured that there would be no dearth of funds for the expansion of education in the state.

Sheila Dikshit further said that the introduction of Right to Education has facilitated the state to open more schools but at the same time the government is also concentrating on the efficiency, expertise and capabilities of the teachers.
