Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) chief spokesperson Mukesh Sharma claimed on Tuesday that many Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs are now willing to join the Congress party in order to retain their seats, after the results of the by-polls were declared yesterday.
Sharma said, "I have said that AAP is finished and the result in Punjab vindicates my stand. They lost the deposit on the seat which they won in the general elections."
"Aam Admi Party has fooled people. The fake promise made by AAP to win the elections in Delhi is now exposed. Arvind Kejriwal is finding new constituency in Delhi. When the elections will be held, BJP and AAP will be defeated," he said, adding, "Many MLAs are willing to join the Congress to retain their seats. That is why he is putting all the exit polls in the front claiming AAP will win seats to form the government. He himself is going to lose his deposit."
A road show was held by the Aam Admi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, earlier this month, in the run-up to the assembly by-polls for two seats, Patiala and Talwandi Sabo, in Punjab. However, it seemed to have no impact as both the candidates lost their security deposit in the by-poll results declared yesterday.
In the by-polls held on August 21, the BJP won in four out of 10 seats in Bihar, it won one out of three seats in Karnataka, two out of three seats in Madhya Pradesh and none out of the two seats in Punjab respectively.
