Jodie Foster, who earned her first Emmy directing nomination with 'Orange Is the New Black', has said that dramedy is what she does as a director.

According to Foster, this genre required a very specific skill in terms of recognizing what was quirky and perverse, and to be moved by it, Deadline.com reported.

She further added that the female prisoners in the series were all soul-searching and had a very spiritual journey which was complex.

Foster said that the scene where Sophia dressed like a woman assisted by her wife, who advised her not to go through with the sex change operation, was one of the least verbal scenes and beautifully written.
