Du Plessis reveals 'smart' mantra to beat Windies in Nagpur

South African skipper Faf du Plessis has insisted that side have to be 'smart' in their approach and game plans in the crucial Group 1 encounter of the World Twenty20 against West Indies in Nagpur on Friday.

Speaking to the media on the eve of the match, Du Plessis said that the conditions in Nagpur would be quite different to that of the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and, therefore, the team would require a different mindset to make the transition and prepare themselves to beat the Caribbean.

He said that one of the positives about the Proteas was that as a batting unit they adapt quickly and are smart in their decision-making, reports Sport24.

The captain said that the team has players who can play quite a few different roles and that would be the key against West Indies, who are unbeaten in the tournament.

He also called on his players to make transitions a lot quicker that their opponents if the pitch in Nagpur turns out to be a 'slow bunsen burner'.

The 31-year-old says that it is important to 'peak' at the right time due to the fast-paced nature of the ongoing tournament.

South Africa, which suffered a two-wicket defeat against England in their campaign opener, gained two points after thrashing Afghanistan by 37 runs in the second group-match.

Faf du Plessis' side are standing second in Group A, with West Indies leading the table after claiming victories in the both the matches.
