ECB awards increment contract to Tredwell for 2013-14 season

England off-spinner James Tredwell has reportedly been awarded an increment contract by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for the 2013-14 season after he played the required number of games.

The Kent player, who has now played six one-day internationals and four Twenty20s during the required contract period, reached the target in England's T20 defeat by West Indies last week.

According to the BBC, Tredwell, who made his international debut four years ago, took six wickets against Bangladesh in his only Test in March 2010 and he has played in 30 ODIs and 11 T20 internationals.

The report mentioned that non-contracted players could earn an increment contract, a step below a central contract, via a points system, with five points being awarded for a Test appearance and two for a T20 or one-day international appearance.

The increment contract is awarded automatically once the player reaches 20 points during the 12-month contract period, the report added.
