British golfer Eddie Pepperell has taken a one-shot lead after the first round of the Spanish Open on Thursday.
Pepperell, who edged clear of a group including Sergio Garcia and Miguel Angel Jimenez, fired a four-under 68 to go ahead of world number seven Garcia, who finished third in the Players Championship Florida on Sunday.
According to the BBC, Pepperell tied sixth at last year's BMW PGA Championship, which takes place again at Wentworth next week.
Also on three under were Scottish golfer Richie Ramsay, American Peter Uihlein, Portugal's Jose-Felipe Lima, German Thomas Pieters, Dutchman Robert-Jan Derksen and Spainiard Rafa Cabrera-Bello.
Pepperell's compatriot Ross Fisher and Danny Willett and Scot Paul Lawrie were among those two under at PGA Catalunya, Girona, the report added.
