The election for the Nepali Congress (NC) Parliamentary Party (PP) working committee members began in Singha Durbar on Friday.
Around 42 lawmakers filed their candidacy for 22 positions of the Nepali Congress PP working committee membership yesterday.
The NC lawmakers would elect one member from each of the seven provinces and the party has reservations for two Madhesi women, one Madhesi man, one Dalit woman, one Dalit man, two Janajati women, two Janajati men, two Khas-Arya women, one Khas-Arya man, one member from the backward region and one each from Tharu and Muslim communities.
Earlier, the lawmakers had elected party president Sher Bahadur Deuba the PP leader.
The Nepali Congress, which is the largest party in the Parliament, has 207 members.
