An encounter between the army and militants in the Kalaroos Forest area of Kupwara District I still on, said locals and security personnel here.
Bashir Ahmed, a local told ANI, "The firing between the army and the militants has been going on since last night. One militant has been killed so far."
Kupwara, which is 90 kilometres from the Line of Control (LoC), has seen a spate of violence of late. Recently, two soldiers were killed in separate incidents, with one being killed in an encounter and the other in a guerilla attack. A reported five militants have been killed as well.
