The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PepsiCo, Indra Nooyi, who met Minister of Food Processing Industries, Harsimrat Kaur Badal today, has said that her company has already invested substantially in India's food processing sector and they wish to double this investment in the coming years.
Talking about the prospective investment, Harsimrat Kaur said, "Lot of investment is coming, which is substantial. In coming years, it will surely double. So, good amount of investment will continue to come in different parts in India."
Harsimrat Kaur also highlighted that PepsiCo has been requested to further bring down the sugar content of soft drinks so that the health aspects of such products are duly taken care of.
"They are researching to launch many new products in India. Especially, the products with health benefits by balancing the nutrition and taste. They are also looking on how to decrease sugar content in drinks", the minister informed.
"Oats are also being promoted by them, which is very healthy. So lots of research is done and productions are made which are good for farmers as well as for people", added Badal.
Talking about the other topics discussed in the meet, Badal added, "They are also doing a lot to promote farming and to uplift the farmers. A whole variety of things were discussed. What all they are doing in research and development and how they are trying to balance out issues of different countries.
